We Work Solely on Donations

Available Dogs

Many times we follow up on applications from good dog owners that have been given poor advice or don't realize that consistent care of their current pets is paramount when trying to adopt from a good rescue organization.
Times are hard right now and we more than anyone understand the cost of taking your pets to get an annual check up and shots BUT our pets are no different from us and although we may act healthy and feel good it is many a time that an annual check up,mamogram or blood test that finds an issue in time to do something about it.

Many people are opting for vaccination clinics or pets stores to get their shots, unfortunately we as a rescue group cannot verify vaccination history if you go to a clinic and have no documentation to show. Plus the dog gets a shot but no annual check up and that is just so important, one miss of a small lump can be catastrophic down the road.

So this is what we tell everyone who is looking to adopt another dog, stay with your veterinarian, so your paperwork and file information on your current pet is in one place and the care history of your pets is check-able. Work out a payment plan with your vet, so you can make payments and also any kind of discount that applies to you, whether that be a senior, disabled, unemployed, multiple dog.
Go talk to your vet they are hurting too right now so it never hurts to ask if they can help you to keep your pet healthy and coming in still on an annual basis. Do not be embarrassed to ask, they too want you to have a healthy pet and they would prefer you to come in than not at all.
If any vet will not work with you send them to this blog to read this or have them call me.

We at Toy Poodle Rescue make a promise that any dog we take in will be placed in a new home that has shown consistent care for their current pets and it says exactly that on our application. People are not going to trust us with their Poodles unless we set a standard that we absolutely adhere to, if it was your pet being surrendered you would want that also. So unfortunately we believe that past history projects future behavior and we cannot and will not take that risk.

The other day I picked up a little Poodle that was being surrendered and the lady was crying and I looked her in the eye and promised her her dog would be safe with me and that the home I find for it will be the perfect match. I always keep my promises.
Thank you so much for caring about Poodles and checking out ours.
